KOH MAA
Two of the most popular of the beaches, Had Rin and Chaloklum always are crowded with sun worshipers but there's also less visited, more hidden bays and beaches.
Ko Phangan's monthly Fullmoon Party is asia's best known beach party, with international DJ's from all over the world lining up to have the honor of playing.
If you are looking for an acceptable place to stay on the island, we would like to suggest you B52 Beach Resort, close to Thongsala, the capital of Phangan. From this place you can have an unproblematic access to food markets, ATM machines and Tesco Lotus.
Phangan has also a choice of upper class resorts to choose from, to name just a few as example Mandalai Hotel or Sun Set Cove. All of them offering top class service and a general high standard.
On Phangan many different things to make you busy. After sunset Phangan offers a active nightlife, everything from typical Ladybars, Pubs to normal Clubs and larger Night Clubs.
A lot of people think the island is just another heaven for backpackers or party freaks and everything focused on the Full Moon Party at Had Rin beach. But this is not so small and Fullmoon is just a tiny and isolated part of the island.
Phangan was before a backpackers destination, today a different type and a mixed range of holiday makers visits the island. A thing many of guests have in common, tourists want to find a relaxed and easy going place. One exemption can be the Fullmoon party when the beach changes into a dancefloor.
Kho Phangan has many undeveloped beaches and coves, a few of them are only accessible by trekking over jungle paths or by using a boat.
No question, Ko Phangan has some of most postcard like beaches anywhere in the country.
If you do not like hanging around on one of the beaches maybe experience something different. The island has a few day-time activities like windsurfing, ATV Rentals, Elephant Trekking, Jungle Trekking, Diving, Thaiboxing, Yoga Classes,a Chinese Temple and Lessons for Thai-style Cooking.
Whatever it is you are looking for, there is something that suits most people. Phangan has now over 250 bungalow resorts to choose from, everything from a cheap charly 90 THB a night wooden hut with no private toilet to first class aircon villa with your own swimming pool.
Even Koh Phangan was discovered by backpacking hippies about twenty years ago, Koh Phangan was before inhabited already over 2000 years ago by sea pirates originating from the area today called malaysia. Phangan was some time later targeted by Chinese migrants many of them from Hainan fleeing the economic hardship in their country.
